Dear
Frederick,
Riveting
Ideas for Manufacturers
Blind
rivets and threaded inserts have
become the preferred fasteners as
new materials such as composites,
high-strength thin gauge steels and
die cast magnesium are used in
mechanical and electro-mechanical
assemblies and countless other
consumer and industrial products.
Benefits of rapid, reliable riveted
assembly operations of metal,
plastic, composite and electronic
components include;
- Fast, blind sided assembly,
- Consistent component clamping
and gripping,
- Dependable vibration
resistance,
- Short cycle times and
- Requiring only basic operator
skills.
This
is all possible with the diverse
range of blind rivets and threaded
inserts that meet the most demanding
designer requirements and a
comprehensive choice of pneumatic
and manual riveting and insert
tools.
These fasteners and tools from
Surebonder are available from
Industry Depot or through your

Rivet
Selection
The most common rivet fasteners of all
are open end rivets where the rivet is
set when the mandrel pulls up into the
rivet body. Open
End rivets are available in
aluminum, copper, steel and stainless
steel in a variety of body and mandrel
configurations.

Open
End Rivet Connection High
Strength Rivet Connection
Other configurations include, Closed-End,
the sealing rivet, Multi-Grip
for use in a wide variety of
hole-filling and grip ranges and
Expandable rivets for fastening
plastics or brittle materials.
High
Strength rivets are
manufactured so the mandrel, when the
rivet is set, will always remain in
the shear plane so the blind
rivet is as strong as a solid rivet or
bolt in the assembly. High
strength rivets are available
in aluminum, steel and stainless
steel.
Grooved rivets are the perfect
rivets for attaching brackets, sheet
metal or other thin materials to wood.
They replace wood screws and nuts and
bolts.
Then
there are Rivet
Mate Sets that are used in sets
in assemblies where you have access to
both sides. You can control the
tension of the fastener which is good
for plastic assembly and hinge points
where you need strength, but allows
the assembly to move. So you can
see, there is lots of choice.

Riveting
Tools
Lightweight, low noise, heavy duty
air pneumatic rivet tools featuring
a removable mandrel collection
system that collects spent mandrels
keeping the work area safe and
clean, adjustable vacuum that
securely holds the rivet in the
nosepiece even when the tool is
pointed downward. An innovative 3
piece jaw design insures a better
grip and release of the rivet
mandrel. These tools are constructed
of lightweight aluminum for less
user fatigue.
Manual tools are also available for
proto-type and custom work.

Threaded
Inserts
Threaded
inserts are the quick, reliable and
low cost way to insert high quality,
load bearing threads into
assemblies. Threaded insert
benefits include blind sided
assembly, reliable and secure thread
installation, no damage to the
surface coating and low installation
costs requiring only basic operator
skills.
Surebonder Quik-ThreadsTM
are available in three styles;
- Small Head
threaded steel inserts feature a
serrated body and a low profile
head for applications requiring
a near flush finish.
- Large
Head threaded steel inserts
feature a round serrated body
and a large diameter, low
profile head that is ideal for
drilled or punched holes. It
offers the highest strength
characteristics.
- Hex
Head threaded inserts feature a
radius corner hex body.
Installed into a hex hole it
offers exceptional torque
strength and vibration
resistance.
All are available in both Inch and
Metric sizes.

Insert Tools
Surebonder
insert tools are ergonomically
designed and easy to use with minimal
operator skill while being easy to
maintain with quick change part
replacement. Also available is
an automatic threaded insert tool
featuring a SPIN-PULL-SPIN setting
sequence. Push the mandrel and the
fastener quickly spins on. Pull the
trigger to set the fastener, and with
a pull back spins out of the fastener.
Setting cycle is about 2 seconds.
